A sad farewell to lady Laila

Sad news unfortunately.

Beautiful lady Laila, who was adopted from G.R.A.C.E by Sam and Lawrence almost ten years ago, recently became unwell. Tests showed fluid around Laila’s heart and lungs.

Although the vet did everything possible, sadly Laila only had a few more days with her family. Laila was a beautiful girl. Rest gently lovely Laila. Forever in our thoughts and hearts.

Appeal for booze please!

G.R.A.C.E is having a ‘Win Every Time Bottle Tombola’ at Fletchers Farm Christmas Fair on Saturday 29th November and we still need donations for this please.

If you can donate any of the following, we would be incredibly grateful: bottles of spirits, wine, single bottles/cans of beer, larger, cider, cocktail mixes or booze minis.

If you have something to donate, please get in touch via the contact details on our website, send a message via our Facebook page, or feel free to bring donations to any of our forthcoming events. Thank you so much.

G.R.A.C.E at Chaloner Street Market in Guisborough

Thanks to everyone who supports, or volunteers at, our regular G.R,A.C.E stall at Chaloner Street Market in Guisborough.

We are always grateful to everyone who donates, buy gifts or gives cuddles to the hounds.

As well as raising much-needed funds, we always have a lovely day!

Remembering our amazing friend Annie

We received some incredibly sad news at the end of 2024. Our amazing friend, and GRACE supporter, Annie Ross passed away suddenly.

Not only was Annie a kind, compassionate, beautiful person, she had a wicked sense of humour and a heart of gold. She was also a very talented artist and designer. You might recall that Annie designed a range of fundraising t-shirts for G.R.A.C.E last year, donating all of her profits to us.

Despite having to come to terms with losing his childhood sweetheart, Annie’s husband Steve has been in touch with us recently to donate £400 from Annie’s G.R.A.C.E t-shirt sale profits.

As well as getting behind G.R.A.C.E, Annie was a supporter of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS), giving her time and skills for free to create the BHPS logo and wonderful hedgehog infographics to help wildlife across the UK.

She also welcomed all wildlife into her garden, as well as fostering hedgehogs and raising funds for Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society and cat rescue organisations.

She was the talent behind ‘The Future is Unmown’, a website featuring fun-filled designs and products for serious fans of nature!

Annie will be missed so much by all who knew her. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.

Thank you to the Kime family

A family who regularly support GRACE, and have adopted hounds, had some very sad news recently. David Kime informed us that his mum Yvonne has passed away.

Yvonne often holidayed with her hound family alongside her human family. Yvonne’s funeral collection raised £134.22 which will be supporting our hounds. Our heartfelt thanks to all of the family and sending our sincere condolences.

Say hello to Connor, Finley and Amber!

Here’s Connor and Finley sharing the sofa, whilst Amber is having a rest in the dog bed. All are still waiting for their forever homes. Contact us to find out more about providing a foster or forever home for any of our GRACE dogs.

April meet and greet a ‘greyt’ success

We had a lovely park walk at our April meet and greet in Redcar. Thank you to the talented @laurenbellphotography who captured some ‘greyt’ shots.

As well as these images, there are lots more on our Facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/RescueAGreyhound

Missed out on all the fun? Weather permitting, our meet and greet is on the first Saturday each month. Full details are on the events page of our website, or follow our Facebook page for reminders.

Thank you Doreen

A big thank you to Doreen who runs lots of fundraising activities for us via the ‘GRACE Fundraising Page’ on Facebook. [NB: This is a separate page to our ‘Greyhound Rescue And Co-ordinated Emergencies’ Facebook page.]

As well as lots of greyhound and dog-related items, there are regular draws and sales of lovely accessories that make great presents. Doreen also runs our regular bonus ball and a weekly 100 club for G.R.A.C.E too.

Dipping for dogs!

It really was as cold as it looks! So a massive thank you to Lisa of ‘Wet Noses & Wagging Tails’ who took part in the annual Boxing Day Dip at Redcar in December to raise much-needed funds for G.R.A.C.E.

Not only did Lisa brave the elements, but she raised an amazing £600 for G.R.A,C.E.

A ‘greyt’ big thank you Lisa for raising awareness of our charity and for going the extra mile to help make a difference to the lives of greyhounds.

Thank you for supporting the Great Global Greyhound Walk 2024!

Thank you to everyone who supported the local leg of the annual Great Global Greyhound Walk (GGGW) at Preston Park, Stockton-on-Tees recently.

Even the weather was lovely,

All 58 hounds enjoyed themselves and helped to make history. The worldwide walk attracted 13,383 sighthounds through 511 walks across 42 countries.

The next GGGW date is Sunday 28th September 2025, so please pop it in your diary. Although the walk is for sighthounds only, you don’t need to have a dog to walk with us and join in the fun!

Thank you to our amazing GGGW organisers and G.R.A.C.E volunteers too, including Joanne who took lots of fabulous photos (check them all out on our Facebook page).
