It’s with a very heavy heart that we have some incredibly sad news to share with you. GRACE girl Emma crossed over the rainbow bridge this week. 

Some of you might remember Emma, who first came to GRACE with Wilson (Albert) several years ago. She was adopted by Michelle who gave her the most amazing life! As you can imagine Michelle is absolutely devastated at losing her beautiful, cheeky and loving soulmate.

Sam has been in foster care for over a year and we would love to find him his forever home. He is a sensitive soul who is looking for an adult only home with greyhound experience. If you feel you could offer Sam his forever home, we would love to hear from you.

Unfortunately, there is more sad news this week, as Wilson and Jessie have crossed the rainbow bridge. Both were adopted via GRACE several years ago.

Mark and Denise had to make the tough decision to help Wilson cross over the rainbow bridge. All of the family are devastated as we all are. You may remember Wilson came to us in a dreadful state – he had been given anabolic steroids and was in a bad way. Albert, one of our volunteers, named him ‘Albert’ and he was soon adopted by Denise and Mark, who changed his name to Wilson. 

Jessie was adopted by Lisa and Geoff who, as you can imagine, are totally heartbroken as we all are. Safe journey Wilson and Jessie. You will always have a place in our hearts.

It has been an incredibly sad week, as we’ve said goodbye to two gorgeous GRACE hounds – Ozzie and Hope – who have both crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Ozzie had developed osteosarcoma and was in a lot of pain. He was a much loved member of Ann and Pat’s family and they are devastated, as we all are. Lots of you will remember Ozzie for his big heart (one on his side too) and his love of TV.

Hope bravely battled a cancerous tumour for 18 months (NB: she was not in pain during this time and was constantly monitored by her vet). Devastatingly, Rachel and her family had to say goodbye. Hope lived her life to the fullest for the past 8 years and was loved by everyone she met.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Ozzie and Hope’s families. We share your pain.

Phoebe is a lurcher pup who’s 9 months old and looking for a home. She would be best placed as an only dog at the moment to allow her to concentrate on her training as she hasn’t had any at all. 

Phoebe is still very puppy like and she wants other dogs to play with her non stop. We feel for this reason that a home without other dogs would allow her to learn how to be a well rounded dog. She needs a home where someone is around a lot of the time as she’s only a pup – perhaps someone who works from home. You also have to be prepared to carry on with her training as all pups need a lot of time and effort. Older children preferred due to her age and bouncy behaviour. Phoebe is a deerhound cross, so she’s a tall girl who will grow into a large dog. Our stall at Guisborough market, which included a tombola, dog related gifts and lots of bargain buys, raised £151.42 for GRACE. Thank you. Our lovely boy Elliott enjoyed his trip out and helped by saying hello to everyone!

Elliott was out and about again on Sunday for our monthly ‘meet and greet’ at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough. This time he was accompanied by gorgeous greyhound girls Mia and Ava, plus lots more people and hounds from our GRACE family.

Our hearts go out to Tracy and Gary who have very sadly lost their gorgeous Bryn this week. Although not a greyhound, Bryn was very much a GRACE boy. He welcomed hundreds of hounds into his home and heart. He taught the hounds under Tracy and Gary’s care how to be a dog; not to be afraid and he told them off when they needed to be!

Bryn was a one in a million boy. He was loved by everyone at GRACE. He will always be remembered and will remain in all of our hearts forever.

We will be at Guisborough market today (Saturday 25th January) from 9.00 – 14.00 with a tombola, dog related gifts and bargains to be had. Our lovely boy Elliott will be helping to greet the public (NB: not his photo).

Weather permitting, we are also at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough tomorrow (Sunday 26th January) for our first meet and greet of 2020 – please see our events page for further details.

Kind-hearted Phillip is running the London Marathon in April and he’s chosen to raise funds for our rescue. I’m sure you can all appreciate how running over 26 miles is not easy! Please donate and share if you are able. We are so grateful that he has chosen to support us.
