Greyhound Rescue and Co-ordinated Emergencies (GRACE) is a small, independent ANTI-RACING non-registered charitable rescue. It was set up by Tracy Cook in 2011 and is run entirely by volunteers. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted and abused greyhounds, lurchers and other sighthounds from local authority dog pounds, members of the public and, predominantly, owners and trainers of racing greyhounds.
Racing greyhounds, who become too old or slow to race, or who have sustained an injury, are seriously at risk of being destroyed. Thousands of greyhounds ‘disappear’ every year, presumed dead.
We help as many dogs as we can by taking each dog into a foster home where they have time to rehabilitate and to recover, receive any necessary veterinary treatment and are cared for and loved, often for the first time in their lives.
Our dogs are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to their forever homes being found. We also work alongside other reputable rescues to re-home dogs.
